HERE COMES A LIFE STORY…
We do things differently at Cut Throat Kenny. Our owner Jason Kenny decided to open his first shop, in Oldham town centre in September 2015 after getting a good few years as a barber under his belt…
It was great to start the business, however we were burgled 3 times in the first year and the building facing us fell down! We were never put off though as we were always busy and had fantastic work to do on great customers…
the originals
As well as great trims, we have always been big on making sure our shop interior is bang on. This shop was where we discovered antiques and taxidermy as part of our decor (mainly because people brought them as gifts), and we painstakingly stuck thousands of picture of glamour models to the ceiling for decoration 😂. We also got our shop dog Lemmy in our OG shop as a pup 😍. The Cut Throat Kenny death bug could also be seen driving about around this time.
On the left is our original logo, made for us by local artist and good friend Simon Turner. We kept this logo for around 6 years until we re-branded.
Moving to a new house
After 2 and a half years in our first shop, the building was getting a bit tired and we had got too busy, so we moved into our bigger shop round the corner in Oldham town centre. We tried everything in this shop, selling beer, clothes, and we had arcade machines for people to enjoy while they waited. We had some great times here and even a few crazy Christmas parties! We then opened another shop 3 miles away in Royton…
exciting times ahead…
After running the two shops for 3 years, Jason decided to close the Oldham shop at the end of its lease. We refurbished and expanded the Royton shop to open 7 days a week. Jason wanted to cut hair more and do the job he loves, instead of boring office work!
Cut Throat Kenny became proud sponsors of local boxer Jack Kilgannon. We also became proud sponsors of our local football club Oldham Athletic. It makes us very happy to support our local community and we look forward to many more years cutting your hair!
